Creative Writing Workshops for Children at Houghton Regis Library 6 & 7 April

Children aged 5 to 10 who would like to learn more about creative writing are welcome to come along to a free Explore Learning creative writing workshop at Houghton Regis Library. They will have a chance to join in with this years exciting National Young Writers` Competition.

The theme for this year's National Young Writer of the Year is 'The Mash-up'. Children are encouraged to write no more than 500 words and tell stories that 'mash-up' two genres. This could see a spaceman transported to Roman times, an alien in the lost city of Atlantis or a Victorian gentleman in the outback!

You can find out more about the competition on the Explore Learning website.

Judging this year's competition is author of the hugely popular 'Charlie and Lola' books, Lauren Child. It's a fantastic opportunity to encourage children to think creatively, spark their love of writing and inspire as many young authors as possible.

There are two free creative writing workshops at Houghton Regis Library run by Explore Learning, one for 5-6 year olds, and the other for 7-10 year olds:
  • Wednesday 6 April, 3:00 to 4:00pm, ages 5 to 6
  • Thursday 7 April, 1:00 to 2:00pm, ages 7 to 10

For more information or to book a place pop in to Houghton Regis Library or call them on 0300 3008058.
