Bedfordshire Ride Safe - Free Assessment

The Roads Policing Unit will be holding FREE Ride safe assessments throughout the year.

Assessments will be held on the following dates:
Sunday 9 August at Kempston Fire HQ
Sunday 20 September at Luton Fire Station
Sunday 11 October at Kempston Fire HQ

The assessments are for full licence motorcyclists and are free! Assessments last around 2 hours where a full assessed ride and a debrief on the ride will take place.

Meet the Contractor Public Exhibition - #WoodsideLink

A public exhibition, will inform residents of the type of work that will take place during the construction of the Woodside Link road.

On Tuesday, 21 July, the 'Meet the Contractor' exhibition visits the joint visitor centre at the A5-M1 site on Sundon Road near Houghton Regis LU4 9TX (2pm to 7pm).

On Wednesday 22 July the exhibition moves to the Ash Room, Bedford Square Community Centre, Tithe Farm Road, Houghton Regis LU5 5ES (2pm to 7pm). 

Project team members will be available to answer residents' questions at both meetings.

The 1.8-mile Woodside Link will connect the industrial areas of Dunstable and Houghton Regis to the new M1 junction 11A.

Construction of the Woodside Link began in May 2015; it is scheduled to open to the public in September 2016.

Travel Choices Summer Activities:
• 18th of July Travel Choices will be at Grove House Gardens for Party in the Park. From 12pm
• 25th of July Travel Choices will be at Leighton Linslade Canal Festival, Tiddenfoot Lake.
• 26th of July Travel Choices will be at Dunstable Downs Kite Festival.
• 28th of July Travel Choices will be at Tithe Farm Skate Competition running DIY Bike sessions! From 12pm - 3pm
• 30th of July Travel Choices will be at Priory Gardens for Art Attack with Spin art bike and arty workshops! From 11am - 3pm

Travel Choices will also be running art workshops at our Dunstable Hub every Saturday from 11am-2pm

You may also spot us out and about throughout July. We will be in the Dunstable Quadrant handing out information and at the Dunstable Leisure Centre telling people about our Leisure Centre reward scheme. If you see us please do come and say hello!

Houghton Regis Carnival 11th July 2015

Come along and watch the Procession through the streets of Houghton Regis!
The Carnival Procession begin at Houghton Regis Academy at 10.30am. The procession will turn right out of the gates at Houghton Regis Academy, before turning left onto Sundon Road. At the mini roundabout, the procession will turn right
onto Hillborough Crescent and then turn first left onto Tithe Farm Road. The procession will follow Tithe Farm Road to the end, before turning left onto the High Street. To arrive at the village Green at approximately 11.45am.

12.00pm The Carnival to be officially opened by the Town Mayor of Houghton Regis, Cllr Rob Shimmin. Plus music from Last of the Summer Ukuleles.

Officially the road will be closed from 9am to 12noon to allow the carnival procession to pass through safely. In practice access MAY be allowed by marshalls outside of the core time, depending on whereabouts you're driving to, and whereabouts the procession has got to.
There will be partial road closures on Saturday morning between Houghton Regis Academy in Parkside Drive, and Hillborough Crescent (shops) while the procession moves to Tithe Farm Road.

Parking will be available here:
  • The West Side of the Village Green
  • The Memorial Hall Car Park
  • Bedford Square Shopping Centre (Parking restrictions will be lifted)
  • Additional parking available free of charge in the Car Park belonging to Houghton Hall Park on Park Road North.

Kids In Action - Your Base For Holiday Action For Young Adults and Children with Disabilities

With up-coming school holidays do you have a child or young adult with disabilities/additional needs but have no where to go .... Check out "KIDS IN ACTION" based in Dunstable, Bedfordshire as they will be operating during the holidays:

  • soft play area's, 
  • games room, 
  • main hall with colouring activities and video jukebox
  • and for the lighter side there is also a café serving hot and cold drinks and food,
